At 6pm tonight (and on the second Wednesday of each month) we will again be screening a free spiritual movies at the Roseville New Church (4 Shirley Road, Roseville NSW).
Movies are selected based on a spiritual theme or by film-makers who were influenced by Emanuel Swedenborg’s writings.
Tonight we screen the movie “Peacful Warrior,” which can be read as a modern parable of regeneration: a gifted young gymnast is brought to crisis and, through a demanding mentor (Nick Nolte), is led to confront the illusions of self-reliance, pride, and outward success. As his ambitions are stripped back, he begins to discover a deeper order within—learning that true strength lies in aligning thought and action with a higher, inwardly perceived good. The film offers a clear depiction of temptation, reordering of the inner life, and the movement from external achievement to inward transformation, making it a strong basis for reflection on spiritual growth, the discipline of attention, and the life of use.
